How To Help

We are dedicated to connecting members of our community

with the needs of our community.

As a proud covenant partner of The Fuller Center for Housing in Americus, Georgia, we share a commitment to a grass-roots, Christ-centered approach to ending poverty housing worldwide.

People

Our mission needs people! We cannot fulfill our mission without volunteers! They are the backbone of our ministry, and they make the most significant impact on our homeowners, who remember their smiling faces, kind words, prayers, songs, hugs, time, talent and energy.

Volunteers to Work on Projects

Individuals and Groups committed to building homes can join one of FCHDE upcoming projects. No experience is necessary. But we are especially in need of licensed contractors and experienced builders of all kinds – electricians, plumbers, carpenters, roofers, masons.

Your interests and skills can help others in our community. Even help with paperwork at job sites, help with refreshments for those working, pick up a rake or broom, or move some boxes. We need everyone!

Vets Helping Vets

We welcome all of our servicemen and women and their families to serve in our community while serving our country. Many of the clients are military veterans.

The FCHDE wants to capitalize on skill sets gained from military service for leadership, employment, internships, and apprenticeships.

Leadership

Board of Directors and Advisors. We are ready to grow our network and are seeking outgoing, engaging, and visionary leaders to join our Board of Directors with the expertise to enhance our operations, so we can best serve our clients, volunteers, and donors.

Lead or Join a Committee:

The Family Selection Committee is charged with identifying partner families who will become the beneficiaries of the FCHDE’s work.

The Family Partnering Committee is the liaison between the family and FCHDE and is a fundamental part of assuring successful homeownership for the partner families.

The Resource Development Committee is responsible for raising funds and in-kind and land donations to advance the ministry of the FCHDE.

The Public Relations Committee are preparing informational brochures and other materials, developing a speaker’s bureau to make presentations, establishing relationships with local media outlets to assure coverage of events, and being the liaison between the FCHDE and the public.

The Faith Builders Committee cultivates relationships with local churches and engage them in work of the Covenant Partner. The members of the committee will represent a number of different faiths, demonstrating the spirit of ecumenism.

The Site Selection Committee is responsible for identifying building sites or repair/rehab, securing those sites with the board’s approval, and preparing those sites for house building or repair/rehab by assuring that infrastructure, zoning and titling issues are managed.

The Construction Committee is responsible for delivering the principal product of this ministry. Because of the technical requirements of home building, this committee should have at least a few professional builders as members. Because of the rich partnership opportunities that come from building.

The Finance Committee i s responsible to ensure that the Covenant Partner employs solid business principles and practices. This assures ongoing financial security and maximizes the number of families that can be housed. The Finance Committee will benefit from having successful business people, including a banker, and lawyer, as members.

The Volunteer Committee is the backbone of a successful Covenant Partner and recruits, schedules, and orients volunteers and volunteer groups from all sources (churches, businesses, schools, and other organizations). This committee also coordinates all aspects of work groups/teams. Tasks included as a volunteer consist of Recruitment, Training, Deploying, Retention, Meaningful Work, Stewardship, Rewards, and Data Base management.

Partners

Faith in Action: We invite churches and faith communities who would like to get their congregations involved in the action of service. We seek to provide innovative and creative methods for engaging church congregations and other faith communities in our Christian ministry. We provide the opportunity to serve and the guidance to do so, allowing churches to put their faith into action. In turn, the work of churches allows us to expand our ministry in the name of God.

Student Builders is a network of committed youth partners who are a part of The Fuller Center’s mission and ministry. Student Builders walk the talk and ‘Build on the Rock!’ because we believe showing true faith in Jesus means turning his love for us into action for others (Matthew 7 & 25). FCHDE Student Builders seek to build each other up in Christ. Building up each other, our partner families, and our communities in the love of Christ. Raising money, speaking with local leaders, recruiting volunteers, garnering gifts-in-kind and volunteering on local projects. Getting the word out about the enormous need and all the ways people can help. Student spring break and summer provide the greatest number of volunteer opportunities.

Projects

If you or someone you know is in need of home repairs and is struggling, can’t afford or can’t physically do them, please contact us. We are here to help make homes livable again, and have our working veterans housed.

Greater Blessings

Homeowners can apply to have their homes restored to a simple, decent living condition. We help them by acting on our faith, because we know Christ loves these people and calls us to serve them. We are able to keep costs low by using volunteer labor and some donated materials, thereby passing on big savings to beneficiaries. Greater Blessing repair projects are fantastic opportunities for churches, because a single congregation can usually provide all capital and volunteer labor needed to complete a full home repair. See Greater Blessings Repair Program for more details.

Encouragement

These are small one day projects. Just describe your project and income level to see if you qualify.

Local businesses and contractors donate materials, labor, and supplies. Every small repair brings independence and security and fosters safe, livable homes where older adults can thrive.

Veteran Housing

In addition to the repair programs we use tiny houses, tiny house communities, and accessory dwelling units, we provide simple, decent and affordable opportunities for working veterans in to improve their current housing.

Philanthropy

Your giving helps build better communities! You help bring back HOPE to those in desperate need of home repairs. Together we can do great things!

Donate Funds

Financial donations sustain us! Donations received go directly for our project materials, tools, equipment, and operating costs. It is of the utmost importance to us to be good stewards of the finances that God blesses us with and our only goal is to use those finances to help as many people in need as possible.

We love our one time offerings and our monthly sponsors who help us with the ongoing expenses of our volunteer-run organization.  We work year-round! Every little gift, even $50 a month makes a huge difference. Each dollar you donate pays your generosity forward.

You can make a donation online or via our Facebook FCHDE page

Donate Land

Your land donation can be recreational, agricultural, residential, commercial or mixed use acreage and we offer a current market value tax deduction to all qualified donors. These parcels are generally small (less than 50 acres), may be nonconforming, and buildable.

If a donation of land is not a possibility, considering partnering with FCHDE to provide you the opportunity to be involved in a small way to create a big change!

Donate Materials

In-kind donations of tools (tool rentals), water and gloves for volunteers, building materials such as paint, drywall, tiles, lumber, doors, windows, appliances, and aging in place items. Skilled laborers are greatly appreciated.

Corporate Giving & Sponsorships

We have the opportunity for businesses and organizations to sponsor specific projects, services, or supplies. Many of our Sponsors also come volunteer alongside the families they support.

We use everything from corporate donations, corporate work day volunteers, and provision of food for workdays.

Corporations and businesses are invited to join with us in our projects and provide team-building experience for their employees.

Sponsors can be individuals or companies who choose to partner with FCHDE. Sponsors can match donations during fundraising events, or sponsor a specific portion of a home repair project or veteran tiny house community build.

Your donations are tax deductible. Tax ID # 87-2644552
