MISSION & STORY

Our Mission. Our Story. Our Why.

Discover how a global movement became a hands-on mission to

build homes, hope, and dignity in Delaware — one family at a time.

Our Purpose Is Simple: Homes, Not Just Houses.

At the Fuller Center for Housing of Delaware, we believe everyone

deserves a simple, decent place to live. Our Christ-centered approach

brings together volunteers, homeowners, and partners to build or

repair homes—not for families, but with them.

Through acts of service, small-scale solutions like tiny homes, and our commitment to housing that is affordable, we empower communities to thrive.

As a proud covenant partner of The Fuller Center for Housing in Americus, Georgia, we share a commitment to a grass-roots, Christ-centered approach to ending poverty housing worldwide.

Why Delaware?

How a 444-mile bike ride sparked a movement of housing, healing, and hope.

In 2019, a bike ride became something more than miles.

My husband Jay and I joined the Fuller Center Bicycle Adventure—a 444-mile journey along the Natchez Trace. Along the way, we didn’t just pedal—we stopped to repair homes, build ramps, and serve communities with open hearts.

That experience planted a seed us. On the drive home to Sussex County, Delaware, we looked at each other and asked, “What if we brought this here?”

But before we could act, everything changed. Jay was hit by a car while cycling and passed away days later. The grief was overwhelming. But in the quiet that followed, I heard a question that wouldn’t let go:

“What is mine to do?”

This is mine to do.

This is why Delaware

The Fuller Center for Housing of Delaware became my answer to loss—and my way forward. What began as a shared dream became a personal mission: to ensure that no family in our state has to live in fear under a failing roof or struggle alone with the burden of unsafe housing; that every working veteran has a stable place to live, in community surrounded by other veterans that understand military service; and that people have housing options near where they work, learn, play and pray, at a price their salary allows them to afford.

Today, we serve the very people often overlooked—veterans, working parents, and seniors—offering hand-ups through repairs, partnerships, and tiny home communities.

This work is not just about shelter. It’s about restoring dignity. It’s about turning sorrow into service, and love into action.

Because home is where healing begins—

and hope is built, one board, one family, one story at a time.

“I asked God, ‘What is mine to do?’ And the answer became this:

Help Delaware have safe, affordable, and available housing.”

Fuller Center Ride Through Delaware – June 2023 Highlights

In June 2023, 35 riders and support volunteers from the

Fuller Center Bicycle Adventure pedaled through Delaware for the first time.

But this ride was more than a fundraiser — it planted seeds of hope.

From crossing the state line to resting after a day of service,

these moments show how faith becomes action—and action becomes mission.

What Drives Us: Faith, Dignity, Partnership

These three principles guide every home we touch and every hand we serve beside.

At the Fuller Center for Housing of Delaware, our foundation is built on faith in action, dignity for every person, and partnerships that uplift—not replace—our neighbors.

These three principles shape every repair, every project, and every relationship we build.

🕊️ Faith-Led

We follow Christ’s example by serving others with humility and love.

🏠 Dignity for All

We believe everyone deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to live—without shame or judgment.

🤝 Partnership, Not Pity

We work with, not for, families. It’s not charity—it’s shared effort, built together.

Meet the Team

The impact we create doesn’t happen by accident.

It’s built by people—volunteers, board members, and community leaders—who show up, roll up their sleeves, and lead with heart.

Every project we complete is powered by purpose-driven people who believe housing is more than shelter—it’s stability.
